On behalf of Fly Fish Australia Incand the Organising Committee for the 39th FIPS-Mouche World Fly Fishing Championship I invite you to travel to Australia to participate in the championship. The competition will be held in the State of Tasmania (the island state to the south of mainland Australia). Tasmania provides a wonderful opportunity to fish for wild trout in a spectacularly beautiful pristine environment.

The championship will be held from 30th November to 8th December 2019.

With the concurrence of FIPS-Mouche the competition will be held over five days, one session per day. This will enable sessions to be staged at the optimal fishing time for each day (e.g. to coincide with anticipated Mayfly hatches) and will enable a more relaxed program.

The angling community of Australia is looking forward to the event and is willing to assist teams in their preparation and practice.  We want the championship to be conducted in the friendliest atmosphere possible.   Come early and enjoy the rugged beauty of Tasmania, its unique wildlife, its natural fishery and Australia’s relaxed way of life.

Little Pine Exposed

Little Pine is an easy day trip venue from the North or South. Via Great Lake it is sealed road nearly all the way, so no bother if you are towing a boat.

Tasmania’s Great Lake

As a fishery, Great Lake is as diverse as it is large. Midges dominate the hatches, but fish rise freely to a range of terrestrial insects.

The Best of Tasmania

At Penstock Lagoon I caught a wonderfully bronze brown trout within a few casts, before putting the rod away and getting the camera out.
